Recreation Complex Updates
Project Vision
Exciting upgrades are coming to the City's Recreation Complex. This project will transform the existing facility with two brand-new artificial turf multipurpose fields, pickleball courts, a natural grass tee-ball field and a modern playground. The existing southern baseball field will undergo a complete renovation, along with upgraded concession and restroom facilities. To top it off, additional improvements include sports lighting and ADA-compliant parking and accessibility, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Timeline
4/2/2024 - Bond approved by voters
8/13/24 - Preliminary Contract approved COMPLETED
10/28/24 - Contract Approval COMPLETED
Phase 1 Completion: estimated Spring 2025 (limited open for high school baseball)
Phase 2 Completion: estimated July 2025
The City is working with the contractor for phased openings for Spring and Summer recreational sports.
Current Status
March 2025: Plaza and retaining wall completed; all lighting installed
February 2025: Turf installed on east and west multi-fields; 3 additional post-tensioned pickleball courts poured and fencing installed; fencing for bullpens installed on multi-fields; plaza and retaining wall work began; upper plaza poured; some sidewalks poured; bathroom remodels began
January 2025: Continued drainage installation to detention areas; new lighting installed for multipurpose fields; turf received; playground equipment has been delivered to 3rd party installed
December 2024: Grading and detention ponds established; drainage installed for all fields and parking areas; pickleball fencing installed; sidewalks surrounding multipurpose fields poured; existing light poles received new fixtures
November 2024: Demolition and excavation; base rock installed for multipurpose fields; 3 pickleball court pads poured
10/28/24 City Council unanimously approved a construction contract with Precision Construction and Contracting dba PCC Sports for renovations
10/14/24 - Design is over 90% complete
8/12/24 - Council selects PCC Sports as the design build firm and executes a preliminary agreement for design work to be completed over the next 90 days.
8/1/24 - Shortlisted firm interviews completed
7/25/24; 7/26/24 - Qualifications Received and firms shortlisted for interviews
6/26/24 - Request for Qualifications for Design Build Firm
6/21/24 - Navigate Building Solutions selected as Owner’s Representative
6/12/24 - Funding approved and bonds issued
4/2/24 - Prop P1: Parks Bond approved by voters
